PlanSmart NJ Policy Briefing: Land Preservation and the Role of Regional Planning

Experts on land preservation strategies will discuss the regional planning considerations and priorities that inform planning for land preservation. D&R Greenway senior staff will present their Greenway Vision map, provide examples of successful land preservation deals and discuss the role of community involvement, criteria for preserving parcels, and the role of GIS technology. A finance expert from Morgan Stanley will discuss the financial components of successful land preservation deals and an attorney from Drinker Biddle & Reath will discuss the legal aspects of land preservation. A representative from the Keep It Green Coalition will discuss New Jersey’s sources of funding for open space, farmland and historic preservation, and the threats facing these funding sources. Representatives from the philanthropic community will talk about their role in developing strategies to preserve New Jersey’s open spaces. AICP CM and NJ CLE credits pending.
