Economic Development Opportunities in the Highlands

January 31, 2012
7:00 pmto9:30 pm

There is a general perception that the Highlands Act and the Highlands Regional Master Plan are designed to prevent development in the region. Many people may be surprised to learn that much in the Act and the Plan is designed to facilitate economic development. This development is to take place within the natural resource constraints of the region and can not only improve economic well being but also improve community character, sustainability and resilience. By taking advantage of the Highlands Act, the Regional Master Plan and the planning services of the Highlands Council, municipalities can secure their economic, social and environmental future.

This workshop will explore the Highlands Act and the Regional Master Plan to explain economic development opportunities. A real world planning consultant will describe the creation of an innovative approach to development in the first community to “conform” to the Highlands Regional Master Plan.

Who should attend? This workshop will be of interest to elected officials, environmental commissions, planning boards, boards of adjustment, residents, farmers and business people of the Highlands region.

Registration fees:
ANJEC Members:$10
Non-Members: $15
If your commission/committee is on the ANJEC Workshop Plan, there is no charge to attend.

To register, email  (infoatanjecdotorg)   or call ANJEC at 973-539-7547.
