Public Meeting: DVRPC Draft FY2018 Transportation Improvement Program

Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission  invites you to review and comment on the Draft DVRPC FY2018 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for the NJ portion of the region. This TIP was developed in cooperation with NJDOT, NJ TRANSIT, DRPA/PATCO and DVRPC’s member counties and cities. The public comment period will end at 5:00 PM Eastern time on Thursday, September 14, 2017. This period allows the public an opportunity to comment on the Draft Program. The TIP public comment period will also serve as an opportunity to comment on NJDOT’s Draft FY 2018 – 2027 Statewide TIP (STIP).

Webinar: Helping Local Businesses Be Sustainable

Community efforts toward sustainability cannot be successful without the active engagement of the private sector. The NJ Sustainable Business Registry Program, developed by the NJ Small Business Development Centers in partnership with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, is an online registry where businesses can receive tips and resources to become more sustainable. Learn about Sustainable Jersey’s Green Business Recognition Program action that awards points to municipalities that promote and encourage the adoption of this program by its businesses. Hear about the Registry and what Sustainable Jersey communities have done to promote sustainability to their local businesses.

Creative Placemaking & Economic Impact Workshop

This free workshop will focus on practices and policies that municipal leaders and decision-makers can undertake to foster Creative Placemaking in their communities. Specifically, the workshop is designed for mayors, council members, commission and board members, municipal planning and engineering officials.

The CCP workshop will feature:

·         Understanding the process of Creative Placemaking and the economic value of undertaking Creative Placemaking planning over traditional redevelopment processes,

·         Policies in NJ that have been successful against a self-analysis of your municipality’s policies,

·         Understanding of how and why it is critical to engage the larger community,

·         Ideas of creative ways to brand the unique aspects of the community,

·         Funding sources for Creative Placemaking planning, and

·         Panelist of leaders from state, county and local officials from the NJTPA region sharing best practices which have led to success in NJ communities.

Raritan River Festival

Free! Join the Lower Raritan Watershed Partnership and friends on Sunday September 24, 2017 from noon-6 pm in New Brunswick’s Boyd Park for this year’s Raritan River Festival. Three stages will be running throughout the day, with other activities including the rubber duck race, cardboard canoe race, the New Brunswick Farmer’s Market, environmental activities and more. Food, vendors and beer garden on the grounds. The LRWP and coLAB Arts will showcase sculptures created as part of the third annual “Watershed Sculpture Project.” Activities include hands-on art projects, milkweed seed pod preparation for pollinator gardens and more!
