TRENTON, Feb. 1 -- New Jersey will engage in a historic debate on the future of affordable housing today when the Senate Economic Growth Committee begins hearings on Senate Bill S1.

New Jersey Future applauds Senators Lesniak and Bateman for introducing this bill and for their determination to streamline and simplify the process to comply with the Supreme Court of New Jersey’s mandate that every municipality in the state provide a fair share of low- and moderate-income housing opportunities.

New Jersey Future is providing testimony on the bill that stresses the important connection between state planning and affordable housing, and key elements for building a reliable affordable-housing system for the 21st century.
