State Planning Commission targets April 25 for State Strategic Plan adoption

March 21st, 2012 by

At today’s State Planning Commission meeting, Office of Planning Advocacy Director Gerry Scharfenberger announced that the commission would meet April 25 to vote on adoption of the State Strategic Plan as the new State Development and Redevelopment Plan.

The public hearings have concluded.  The written comment period for the plan closes April 2.

Dan Kennedy, OPA deputy director, said a “red-lined” version of the plan will be posted on the office’s website April 13.  He expects there will be revisions to “clarify the plan’s role” and to add detail where requested by the public.  A glossary will also be included.

Kennedy added that the staff will wait until early summer to present the commission with a rule proposal for the “investment area” criteria system, intended to replace the State Plan map after a transition period.
