Camden SMART Initiative

The Camden SMART Forum provides an opportunity for environmental leaders, community groups, nonprofit organizations, green businesses, and government officials to unite under a common agenda and educate one another on best management practices for green and grey stormwater management techniques. The 2015 Forum will feature Camden Mayor Dana L. Redd’s annual sustainability address, an inspirational keynote speech, panel discussions, exhibits, networking, tours, and more!

New Jersey Enters National Disaster Resilience Contest

Friday, February 27th, 2015

New Jersey DEP has posted a draft of its application to the National Disaster Resilience Competition, and is inviting public comment. If successful, the state could get up to $1 billion for design and implementation of resiliency projects.

New Jersey Land Conservation Conference

Dr. Eric Chivian, founder and director emeritus of Harvard Medical School’s Center for Health and the Global Environment, will be the keynote speaker at the 19th annual New Jersey Land Conservation Conference on Friday, March 6, at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, 1 W. Lafayette St., Trenton.

The theme of this year’s conference is “To Your Health,” and the day will be devoted to exploring the role of open space and farmland preservation in promoting health and wellness.

Dr. Chivian, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, will speak on “Global Environmental Threats: Why They Are Hard to See and How a Medical Model May Help Us Understand Them.”

Rand Wentworth, president of the Land Trust Alliance, will present the kickoff address on “Connecting Health and Nature: Why Every American Benefits from Land Conservation.”
