2015 New Jersey Sustainability Summit

June 10, 2015
8:15 amto4:00 pm

Sustainable Jersey has been engaged in a collaborative process to outline the multiple dimensions of sustainability in terms of practical goals with indicators that describe observable outcomes at the state level. Indicators help us recognize milestones on the road to sustainability: taking their readings provides a report card on performance. Building on the 2013 Sustainability Summit at Duke Farms and the feedback received, the objectives of the 2015 New Jersey Sustainability Summit are to:

  • Establish a vision for the movement — Release the “Sustainable State of the State” report
  • Gather feedback on how Sustainable Jersey can support progress:
    • Where Are We Going? – Discussion of the vision, goals and indicators
    • Program Structure – How could Sustainable Jersey work better and be more effective?
    • Actions – How can the existing actions be improved? What new actions are needed to address current and future challenges and to realize our vision?

Leveraging your Sustainable Jersey Efforts to Highlight the Importance of Water Quality Protection

April 7, 2015
1:00 pmto2:00 pm

Nearly all of New Jersey’s waters fail to meet the fishable, swimmable, and drinkable goals set forth in current laws and regulations. Most of the issues are a result of our everyday actions and the way we use land and water resources. That is why Sustainable Jersey and Clean Ocean Action have teamed up to inspire coastal towns to focus on watershed-wide water quality improvements.

Clean Ocean Action’s Blue Star program highlights the Sustainable Jersey actions aimed at water quality protection and supports community efforts to become a leader in environmental stewardship.

This webinar will review the components of the Blue Star program and discuss how you can leverage your existing Sustainable Jersey efforts and showcase your towns’ initiatives to promote healthy waters and implement environmentally sound policies and practices.  For more information or to register, click here.
