Plan 2045: North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority Open House

November 2, 2017
4:00 pmto7:00 pm

The draft of the NJTPA’s updated Regional Transportation Plan (RTP), known as Plan 2045: Connecting North Jersey, is here!  The NJTPA will hold a public open house at its offices in Newark on Thursday November 2, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m so you can learn all about it and provide comments or feedback.

Attendees can arrive at any time. There will be short presentations at 5:00 and and again at 6:00 p.m.  The event will feature various displays highlighting the innovative public outreach conducted for Plan 2045. Light refreshments will be served.

They’re also seeking on the Transportation Improvement Program (or TIP) for fiscal years 2018-2021, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s draft Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for Fiscal Years 2018-2027, as well as the draft Air Quality Conformity Determination for Plan 2045 and the TIP.

Plan 2045 is the federally required long-range Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) for the region. The TIP is the four-year, fiscally constrained agenda of transportation projects drawn from the RTP.  To be eligible for federal funds, proposed projects must be approved by the NJTPA Board for inclusion in the TIP, which is updated annually. The STIP is the federally required compilation of TIPs from the NJTPA and the state’s two other Metropolitan Planning Organizations. The federally required Air Quality Conformity Determination demonstrates that these documents are consistent with achieving the state’s plan for meeting air quality goals and standards.

The draft documents are available at Go to, at the NJTPA, One Newark Center, 17th Floor, Newark, NJ 07102 and at New Jersey Library Network libraries in the NJTPA region. The formal comment period ends November 9, 2017.

The NJTPA Board of Trustees will consider adoption of the RTP, TIP, and Air Quality Conformity Determination at its November 13, 2017 meeting.  Any questions may be emailed  (tritteratnjtpadotorg)   to Ted Ritter, NJTPA Special Projects Manager. Or call at 973-639-8447.
