Charting a Course for Community Resilience

NJAFM’s 9th Annual Conference, titled “Charting a Course for Community Resilience” will educate elected officials and professionals involved in the field of floodplain and emergency management and the technical trades of engineering, surveying, planning, public works and code enforcement, who are eligible for continuing education credits, through a series of Plenary and topical Concurrent Sessions. The conference also includes a number of optional in-depth courses and networking events.  This conference will be of great benefit to those who attend and what they bring back to his/her community, especially those involved with floodplain management, code enforcement and recovery from Hurricane Sandy.

Redevelopment Planning Law

This two-day course on the redevelopment planning process will provide a broader understanding of the crucial issues, steps and challenges associated with the New Jersey’s Local Redevelopment and Housing Law (LRHL).  The workshop includes an in-depth review of the LRHL, an analysis of the redevelopment planning process designations, discussion on how to engage the community in the redevelopment planning process, review and examination of the redevelopment plan in relations to current legal issues and challenges, review of the mandatory and optional provisions of the redeveloper’s agreement, and discussions on some of the recent legal and public policy issues on redevelopment such as eminent domain, environmental liability and relocation.
