Lecture: Richard Rothstein, Author of The Color of Law

Richard Rothstein, author of The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America, is coming to Newark and Philadelphia. In his book, Mr. Rothstein uncovers the often-forgotten history of how policies of federal, state, and local governments intentionally created residential segregation. Mr. Rothstein is a research associate at the Economic Policy Institute, a fellow at the Thurgood Marshall Institute of the NAACP, and a former New York Times columnist.

LaSalle University in Philadelphia will host Mr. Rothstein on October 10, 2017 at 6pm. This event will be held at Founders’ Hall Auditorium, 723 North Wister Street, Philadelphia. This is a free event, but guests are asked to register for planning purposes.

Mr. Rothstein will also be a guest lecturer at Rutgers University Honors College, Esterly Lounge, 2nd Floor Engelhard Hall, Rutgers-Newark on October 12, 2017 at 4pm. This is also a free event, no registration is necessary.

NJ Gubernatorial Debate

The debate will take place at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. However, it will be recorded live on a closed set, and no tickets are available.

The debate will be broadcast live on Tuesday, October 10th on WABC-TV 7NY, WPVI-TV 6ABC Philadelphia and Univision stations. It also will be available on Twitter,, WBGO-FM Jazz 88; WHYY 91-FM and 1280 WADO-AM.

The debate will be rebroadcast by WABC-TV 7NY, WPVI-TV 6ABC along with C-SPAN in the weeks following the actual debate. The debate also will be available on Twitter,, and other debate partner websites.

Two moderators and a panel of reporters will ask the candidates questions. A limited number of questions from Twitter will also be included. Tweet questions with the hashtag #NJGovDebate.
