Meishka L. Mitchell, AICP, PP an accomplished nonprofit executive with over two decades of experience advancing environmental protection, climate resilience, and equity across urban and state systems. A visionary leader at the intersection of environmental justice, climate policy, and sustainable development, Meishka has built a career transforming how communities and governments collaborate to protect natural resources while ensuring that all residents—particularly those in frontline and overburdened communities—benefit from environmental progress.
In addition to her executive leadership, Meishka serves as a Lecturer of Environmental Justice at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, where she prepares the next generation of leaders to critically examine the structural drivers of environmental inequity and advance solutions rooted in justice, self-determination, and community power. She also extends her impact through Black Girl Kinda Green, a platform that blends education, storytelling, and advocacy to make environmental justice accessible, culturally grounded, and actionable.
Meishka holds a Master of City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania, is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), and is a Licensed Professional Planner in the State of New Jersey, where she resides with her family.
