Economic Development
New Jersey would like to increase the amount of investment that comes into the state in order to provide employment opportunities and an enhanced quality of life for its residents.
Much of the state’s economic development and growth requires public infrastructure. The state government, through the leadership of the Governor and its agencies, plays a tremendous role in setting policies, making investments, and adopting regulations that support smart growth.
New Jersey has very little unspoken for land. To best use our limited supply of land wisely, we must focus our growth in centers through redevelopment, leaving our open spaces open. This strategy minimizes the public subsidy necessary to support these activities and reduces the cost to businesses to build facilities, transport goods, connect with suppliers, customers, and partners, and access employees.
To achieve more effective redevelopment in the state and foster economic growth, there needs to be greater cost-sharing, regionalization, and consolidation to guide growth, align infrastructure investments, and streamline decision-making.
New Jersey Future advocates for and makes recommendations to strategically focus investments, creating more thriving, affordable, and safe communities where people want to live, work, and play. A healthy population is a healthy workforce, which is foundational to an equitable, resilient, and prosperous New Jersey.
