Statement on Lead in Newark’s Water

TRENTON, August 26, 2019 — New Jersey Future released the following statement on the Essex County bond program to replace all lead service lines in Newark:

“Cities and towns across New Jersey are confronting the challenge of lead in drinking water. The only permanent way to address this issue is to replace lead service lines–a solution that requires ample funding and coordination. This type of partnership exemplifies the creative problem solving that will produce real results and keep residents safe from the effects of lead in drinking water,” said Chris Sturm, managing director of policy and water at New Jersey Future.
