Planning and Governance
Community land use decisions must be guided by a center-based, people-centric vision along with a holistic understanding of challenges and an acknowledgement of the shortcomings of political boundaries.
Planning Smarter
Government agencies play a tremendous role in effectively developing and redeveloping communities. This requires aligning various regulations, laws, subsidies, and policies that are sometimes contradictory.
Smart growth requires setting policies, making investments, and adopting regulations across multiple issue areas and political jurisdictions. The state must use data and information to inform planning at many levels and implement policies and governance mechanisms that recognize these dynamics.
Our team is influencing New Jersey’s planning and policies by analyzing proposed state bills and regulations, educating policymakers and constituents, developing recommendations, and advocating for modifications or acceptance. We rely on partners, community voices, and our original research to help us advocate for change.
